Rifugio Allievi (or Rifugio Allievi Bonacossa) is located in Val di Zocca, one side of the famous Val di Mello.
The hike is very long but you have the opportunity to visit awesome places.
Shortly:
- Elevation gain: 1360 m.
- Hiking time: 4 hours
- Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
- Elevation: 2385 m.
- Trail: without number but well marked by white and red signs
Warning:

Mountain conditions can be very dramatically from one season to the next. Always seek local advice on current conditions, check the weather and don’t take anything for granted.

Starting point:
Val di Mello parking area, that you reach in 30 minutes walking from San Martino Val Masino, or by shuttle for payment (that you take in San Martino, near the information point)
Trail description:
Walking along the Val di Mello until almost the end. Follow the sign on the left. Along a steep trail in the forest you reach the first flatland. Walk to the flatland and then climb the trail on the right. Through this beautiful path you’ll reach the rifugio.
Descent:
Along the same trail, although many alternatives are possible by connecting other trails.
Connected trail:
The hike is very long, so I recommended, to those who want to descend into the valley the same day, just to visit the refuge surroundings.
